Blue Canoe

This is a plein-aire painting. A group of us went to one of the creeks in Wimberley and this is what I painted. My sister asked me one time why boats were so popular with artists. I guess the question kinda threw me for a loop because I thought the answer was clear: many of them are hand-made, they are generally graceful and colorful, there's something romantic and relaxing about them, and depending on the setting, they envoke a variety of feelings to the viewer and they all seem to have a story to tell.
